Dr. Reneé Hartz

Dr. Reneé Hartz is a medical director specializing in myofascial pain treatment and is the founder of the Chicago Center for Myofascial Pain Relief. She brings over 30 years of experience across various medical fields, including thoracic and cardiac surgery, emergency medicine, and university medical education, applying this broad expertise to her current focus on drug-free and surgery-free myofascial pain management.

Dr. Hartz is a published author with over 90 peer-reviewed articles and more than 10 chapters in medical textbooks, and she has lectured nationally, including a featured presentation at the 2016 NAMTPT National Conference. Her current treatment skills include trigger point assessment and injections, fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome evaluation, workman’s compensation and personal injury treatment plans, motor vehicle accident rehabilitation, electro-therapy assisted myofascial trigger point therapy, and neuropathy treatments using the Rebuilder medical device.

Dr. Hartz practiced surgery until 2003 and emergency medicine from 2003-2008. She then became medical director of a large chiropractic practice where she trained and published in 3 common conditions treated in pain clinics: neuropathy, overpronation due to Morton’s Toe structure and trigger points.

After discovering myofascial trigger point therapy, she attended Sharon Sauer’s Myopain seminars in Chicago and then began to work with myofascial trigger point therapists. She received a USPTO trademark for her “Myofascial Rejuvenation” method and eventually published her experience with trigger point injections at the Chicago Center For Myofascial Pain Relief with Mary Biancalana. She is convinced that both neuropathic (trigger point) and nocioceptive (ethesopathy) pain are present in Myofascial Pain Syndrome and that both components must be treated every patient with MPS.
